Abstract

ABSTRACT
Objective.  To describe papillary parameters of the adult Gabonese melanoderma without glaucoma and their variatins with age and sex.  Population and methods. After visual field and OCT, a total of 292 subjects (584 eyes) out of 392 were declared without glaucoma. The relations between age, gender, and optic disc area (mm2) (ODA), optic cup area (OCA) and neuroretinal rim (mm3) area (NRA), vertical cup/disc diameter ratio vertical (C/DV) and horizontal (C/DH), cup volume and neuroretinial rim volume (NRV), optic disc diameter (mm) vertical and horizontal (DH) were analyzed (p < 5%). Results. DV was 1.96 in women vs 1.92 in men (p = 0.046). C/DV was 0.58 in women vs 0.62 in men (p = 0.0 15). C/DH was 0.61 in women vs 0.64 in men (p = 0.036). In women, CV was 0.29 vs 0.35 in men (p = 0.004).The mean values of C/DH (r = 0.179; p = 10-3), C/DV (r = 0.203; p = 10-3), ADO (r = 0.162; p = 10-3), NRA (r = -0.28; p =10-3), NRV (r = -0.288; p = 10-3), DH (r -0.11; p = 0.028) and DV (r = 0.174; p = 0.002) were weakly correlated with age, but not ADO (r = 0.089; p = 0.032) and EV (r = 0,048; p = 0,251). Conclusion. Papillary biometric parameters vary by age and sex in adult Gabonese melanoderm without glaucoma.
Conclusion.
