Abstract

ABSTRACT
Cephalohaematoma in newborn usually disappears within four weeks.  They rarely progress to ossification and hard swelling of the scalp. We report the case of a six-month-old infant who was admitted in the neurosurgery unit of the Fann University Hospital in Dakar, for a hard left parietal swelling with deformation of the head. Head  CT scan showed left parietal bone thickening with hypodense content between bone layers.  Surgery was performed with simple suite. Cephalohaematoma rarely persists, and a process of ossification rather than calcification is also rare. Its treatment is controversial.
