La laryngite chronique correspond à l’inflammation persistante de la muqueuse laryngée supérieure à six semaines. L’objectif de ce travail était de contribuer à la connaissance de cette pathologie à Douala. Matériels et méthodes. Il s’agissait d’une étude descriptive et rétrospective, réalisée aux services d’ORL de l’Hôpital Général de Douala (HGD) et de l’Hôpital Militaire de Douala (HMD) sur une période de 10 ans de 2010 à 2019. Les variables étudiées étaient : âge, sexe, profession, antécédents, symptômes et aspects endoscopiques. Résultats. Nous avons recensé 50 cas de laryngites chroniques sur 34 647 consultations ORL. La prévalence était de 0,14%. L’âge moyen des patients était de 47,8 ± 12 ans, avec les extrêmes de 15 à 68 ans. Nous avons observés une prédominance masculine (60%) avec un sex-ratio de 1,5. Les antécédents étaient dominés par l’alcool retrouvé chez 56% de cas et le tabac dans 38% de cas. Les groupes professionnels les plus touchés étaient des employés du secteur informel (74%), suivi des professionnels de la voix (enseignants, journalistes, chanteurs, religieux) dans 14% des cas. Le principal symptôme était la dysphonie chez 94% des patients (47 cas), suivi de dyspnée 18%, dysphagie 14%, d’hémmage 10%, de douleur 8% et de sècheresse laryngée 2%  On notait une prédominance des laryngites rouges à 74% des cas. Conclusion. La laryngite chronique concernait les adultes surtout les hommes associés le plus souvent à l’alcool et au tabac. <br />ABSTRACT<br />Introduction. Chronic laryngitis is persistent inflammation of the laryngeal mucosa for more than six weeks. The aim of this study was to contribute to the knowledge of this pathology in Douala. Materials and methods. We carried out a retrospective and descriptive study in the ENT departments of the General Hospital of Douala and Douala Military Hospital over a period of 10 years from 2010 to 2019. The following variables: sex, age, occupation, pass history, clinical sign and endoscopic sign were studied. Results. A total, 50 patients were recorded from 34 647 ENT consultations. The prevalence was 0.14%. The mean age at the first consultation was 47.8 ± 12 years, form 15 to 68 years. The male sex was dominant (60%) with sex ratio of 1.5. The pass history are but dominated by alcohol found in 56% of cases and tobacco in 38% of cases. The most common profession was the informal sector workers (74%), followed by voice professionals (teachers, journalists, artists and religious) 14% of cases. The main symptom was dysphonia in 94% of patients (47 cases), followed by dyspnea 18% and dysphagia 14%. We noted a predominance of red laryngitis in 74% of cases. Conclusion.
