Abstract
ABSTRACT
Spontaneous and simultaneous conception of an intrauterine and extrauterine pregnancy is rare. However, the rise in assisted reproductive technologies has contributed to an increase in the incidence of this type of pregnancy. The major challenges in managing heterotopic pregnancy are early diagnosis of ectopic pregnancy and surgical treatment with the least invasive procedures possible in the event of rupture, in order to preserve the chances of the intrauterine pregnancy continuing. We report a case of spontaneous heterotopic pregnancy in which the ectopic pregnancy ruptured, requiring emergency surgical management, which allowed the intrauterine pregnancy to progress.
