Conclusion.
ABSTRACT
Introduction. Post-extraction tissue preservation is the key to successful implant treatment. The objective of our study was to evaluate the efficacy of PRF in gingival healing, pain control and post-extraction bone volume maintenance. Methodology. A single-blind randomised clinical trial was conducted from October 1, 2018 to May 1, 2019, in individuals aged at least 19 years who agreed to participate in the study and divided into two groups. Group A (extraction with PRF) in the socket, and group B (extraction without PRF). Bone regeneration was assessed using retroalveolar radiography. Pain was assessed using a simple verbal scale (EVS). Alveolar closure time was taken into account in the assessment of gingival healing. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software version 23.0 and the significance level was set at 5%. Results. A total of 40 patients were included in our study, 24 women and 16 men. The median ages were respectively 27.5 years (in group A) and 25 years (in group B). After four months of intervention, there was no statistically significant variation between the mesial, distal and average vertical heights. However, in the control group, there was a statistically significant decrease in the mesial, distal and average vertical heights. The pain disappeared earlier in the intervention group at day 3. However, the pain has dispread in both groups at day 7. Moreover, the delay of alveolar closure after tooth extraction was significantly shorter in the intervention group. Conclusion. PRF allows post-extraction bone volume maintenance and promotes rapid gingival healing.
}, number={8}, journal={HEALTH SCIENCES AND DISEASE}, author={Jules Julien, Ndjoh and Lydie Sandra , Akena Ndeng and HP, Moneboulou Mengong and Charles, Bengondo Messanga and Lawrence, Essama Eno Belinga}, year={2022}, month={Jul.} }
