L’objectif de notre étude était de décrire le profil clinique, biologique et thérapeutique des infections ORL chez l’enfant de 0-5 ans. Méthodologie. Nous avons mené une étude transversale dans le service de consultations de Pédiatrie de l’Hôpital Laquintinie de Douala de Janvier à Juin 2020. Tout enfant âgé de 0 à 5 ans consultant pour fièvre et/ou ayant eu une manifestation ORL a bénéficié d’un examen clinique complet et d’un bilan biologique (PCT, CRP, NFS) et d’une prise en charge thérapeutique. Les caractéristiques sociodémographiques, cliniques et biologiques ont été recueillies et analysées. Résultats. Sur 1265 enfants âgés de moins de 5 ans ayant consulté pendant la période d’étude, 371 (29,3%) ont été inclus dont 261 (70,4%) présentaient des infections ORL. La prévalence des infections ORL en consultation de Pédiatrie était de 20,6% à un âge médian de 12 mois. Les principales infections ORL diagnostiquées étaient les rhinopharyngites 106 (40,9%), les angines 84 (32,4%), les rhinites 43 (16,6%) et les otites moyennes aigues 26 (10,1%). Sur 261 enfants, 127 (48,7%) ont bénéficié du dosage de la PCT dont 36 (28,3%) étaient positives et 19 (15,0%) avaient une infection ORL associée. Parmi les infections ORL isolées, 79,2% (65/ 82) cas avaient une PCT négative, 44,9% (31/69) une CRP négative et 42,8% (36/84) une hyperleucocytose dont 26/36 (72,2%) à prédominance lymphocytaire. L’antibiothérapie a été administrée à 160 (61,3%) enfants dont 58(45,7%) qui  avaient une PCT négative. Conclusion. Le profil de l’infection ORL chez les enfants de 0 à 5 ans est celui d’un nourrisson présentant une infection isolée avec une PCT négative et une hyperleucocytose à prédominance lymphocytaire. </div> <div> </div> <div>ABSTRACT</div> <div>Introduction. The aim of our study was to describe the clinical, biological and therapeutic profile of ENT infections in children aged 0-5 years. Methodology. We conducted a cross-sectional study in the pediatric consultation department of Laquintinie Hospital in Douala from January to June 2020. All children aged 0 to 5 years consulting for fever and/or having had an ENT manifestation benefited from a complete clinical examination and a biological assessment (PCT, CRP, blood count) and therapeutic management. Sociodemographic, clinical and biological characteristics were collected and analyzed. Results. Out of 1265 children under 5 years of age who consulted during the study period, 371 (29.3%) were included, of whom 261 (70.4%) had ENT infections. The prevalence of ENT infections in paediatric consultations was 20.6% at a median age of 12 months. The main ENT infections diagnosed were nasopharyngitis 106 (40.9%), angina 84 (32.4%), rhinitis 43 (16.6%) and acute otitis media 26 (10.1%). Of the 261 children, 127 (48.7%) were tested for PCT, of which 36 (28.3%) were positive and 19 (15.0%) had an associated ENT infection. Of the isolated ENT infections, 79.2% (65/82) had negative PCT, 44.9% (31/69) had negative CRP and 42.8% (36/84) had hyperleukocytosis, 26/36 (72.2%) of which were predominantly lymphocytic. Antibiotic therapy was administered to 160 (61.3%) children, 58 (45.7%) of whom had a negative PCT. Conclusion. The profile of ENT infection in children aged 0-5 years is that of an infant with an isolated infection with negative PCT and a predominantly lymphocytic hyperleukocytosis.</div>}, number={5}, journal={HEALTH SCIENCES AND DISEASE}, author={Ida Penda Calixte and Eposse Ekoube Charlotte and Epée Eboumbou Patricia and Ngo Djon Balogog Grâce Carmen and Nda Mefo Jean-Pierre and Mbono Betoko Ritha Carole and Iyawa Ousmanou Hassanatou and Njock Louis Richard and Okalla Ebonguè Cécile}, year={2023}, month={Apr.} }
