ABSTRACT
The symmetrical peripheral gangrene (SPG) is defined as a symmetrical ischemic distal lesion on two sides or more when there is no obstruction of great vessels. It is scarcely related to malaria. We deal with a case of SPG complicating an infection of Falciparum plasmodium on a 3 years old girl living in an endemic area. Physical examination highlighted a hyperthermia, a Blantyre coma score at 3, a respiratory distress, a hepatomegalic pain and an acrocyanosis of the 4 extremities. Hyperparasitemy should raise doctor’s awareness on the hospital care of patients suffering from malaria in order to avoid SPG.
ER -
