Conclusion.
ABSTRACT
Introduction. Pericarditis is an inflammation of the pericardium and often includes a liquid effusion. Pericarditis can be caused by many disorders (infection, myocardial infarction, etc.) but is often idiopathic. In this paper, we report the presentation of pericarditis in a in a heath Centre of Bamako Health District. Materials and methods. This was a descriptive cross-sectional study from January 1 to December 31, 2020 on patients in consultation in the CS Ref CI cardiology unit Results: We retained 104 patients among the 1438 patients consulted, i.e. a prevalence of 7.2%. The young subject was more represented with an age group between 21 and 30 years old, i.e. a frequency of 41.3%. The female gender predominated with 56.7%. The frequent reason for consultation was dyspnea 70.2% and chest pain 57.0%. According to NYHA classification; 64.4% of patients were at stage III at the first consultation. The most common abnormality on cardiac examination was tachycardia (100%). The micro voltage represented half of the ECG findings (50.0% of the patients), while repolarization anomalies were found in 34.6% and the subshift of the PQ segment was found in 11.5% of patients. Cardiac Doppler ultrasound found pericardial effusion in 87.5% of cases, including 3.8% with tamponade. The two most common etiologies were viral infection (36.5%) and HIV (26.0%). Conclusion. Pericarditis is rather frequent in consultation in the cardiology unit of the CS Ref CI and it generally affects young people. The two most common etiologies are non-specific viral infection and HIV.
ER -
