Abstract
This is the 4th issue of Volume 10 of 1999 of Health Sciences & Disease, thus bringing to a close, the volume. Each of the four issues of the volume has been a reflection of the active research activities going on in the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Each has been a reflection of the satisfactory fulfilment of the research dimension of the teaching activities in the Faculty, especially as the MD degree requires the presentation of a Thesis derived from research work, and the MSc degree offered in several domains of the Medical Sciences also requires the presentation of a dissertation to fulfil the conditions for the award of the degree. Several students who graduated with one or the other of the degrees were co-authors of the several articles published, confirming that part or all of the research contributed to the research dimension of their degrees.
