Abstract
RÉSUMÉ
Introduction. La connaissance des avantages sanitaires de la consommation des fruits et légumes est un facteur de motivation pour leur consommation. Notre objectif était de déterminer le niveau de connaissance des bienfaits de la consommation des fruits et légumes chez les futurs professionnels de santé. Méthode. L’étude transversale descriptive a été réalisée chez les étudiants en médecine de l’Université Félix Houphouët Boigny d’Abidjan du 15 Novembre au 31 Décembre 2023. Les caractéristiques socio-démographiques et la connaissance des recommandations de l’OMS sur les fruits et légumes. Les données ont été collectées en ligne avec Google Forms et analysées avec le logiciel stata 12.0. Les variables qualitatives étaient exprimées en nombre et en pourcentage. Les variables qualitatives étaient comparées avec le test du Chi2. Le seuil de signification était fixé à 5%. Résultats. Il y avait une prédominance masculine parmi les 253 étudiants inclus avec un sex-ratio de 1,4. L’âge moyen était de 22,8 (± 2,55) ans. Près de 92,1% connaissaient les avantages des fruits et légumes et 79,45%, le nombre de fruits et légumes recommandés par l’OMS. Il n’y avait pas de lien significatif entre la connaissance des avantages des fruits et légumes et les caractéristiques socio-démographiques. Conclusion. Le niveau de connaissance des avantages des fruits et légumes par les étudiants était bon. Cette étude va contribuer à établir une base de données sur la connaissance et l’alimentation des étudiants du pays.
ABSTRACT
Introduction. Knowledge of the health benefits of eating fruit and vegetables is a motivating factor for their consumption. Our aim was to determine the level of knowledge of the benefits of fruit and vegetable consumption among future health professionals. Method. The descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out among medical students at the University Félix Houphouët Boigny of Abidjan from November 15 to December 31, 2023. Socio-demographic characteristics and knowledge of WHO recommendations on fruit and vegetables. Data were collected online using Google Forms and analyzed using stata 12.0 software. Categorical variables were expressed as numbers and percentages. Categorical variables were compared using the Chi2 test. The significance level was set at 5%. Results. The 253 students included were predominantly male, with a sex ratio of 1.4. The mean age was 22.8 (± 2.55) years. Almost 92.1% knew the benefits of fruit and vegetables, and 79.45% recognized the number of fruits and vegetables recommended by the WHO. There was no significant relationship between knowledge of the benefits of fruit and vegetables and socio-demographic characteristics. Conclusion. Students' knowledge of the benefits of fruit and vegetables was good. This study will help establish a database on the knowledge and diet of students in the country.
