RÉSUMÉ
Introduction. Conclusion.

ABSTRACT
Introduction. Coronavirus is an infectious disease due to SARS-CoV-2 that manifests as an inflammatory syndrome. The objective of this observational study was to describe the hematological parameters in patients who tested positive for Covid-19. Material and methods. We conducted an observational study over a period of 2 months from 22 July to 19 September 2021 in the departments of the Regional Hospital of Bafoussam. Results. Fifty patients were recruited at the Bafoussam Regional Hospital. Of these, 35 were Covid-19 positive. The mean age of the case population was 60.5±19.8 with a sex ratio of 1.18 in favor of female. The mean white blood cell count was elevated (p=0.02) in Covid-19 positive patients (8.8 x103/mL ±2.7) compared to Covid-19 negative patients (6.46 x103/mL ±1.46). The mean monocyte count in Covid-19 positive cases was 0.48±0.34 and in Covid negative 0.50 x103/mL ±0.19 (p=0.030). A significant decrease in lymphocytes was observed in the positive cases (2.01±1.66) compared with the Covid negatives (2.63 x103/mL ±0.83) p=0.009. Red blood cell means in positive cases (4.73±0.68) and Covid negatives (4.77±0.57) did not show significant difference (p=0.13). The mean hemoglobin in cases (13.12 x106/mL ±2.02) and controls (13.2 x106/mL ±1.3) did not differ significantly (p=0.73). 10% of the covid 19 positive population were group O rhesus positive and 50% of them group A rhesus positive. Conclusion. Covid-positive patients showed a disturbance of the blood count parameters mainly in the white blood line.
