RÉSUMÉ
Introduction. Conclusion.
ABSTRACT
Introduction. For multiple years now, the realization of implant prostheses has been increasingly popular throughout the world. The general objective is to review the evolution of the choice of techniques in the planning of implant-supported prostheses and the status of their implementation. Method. A search of published articles from January 1980 to 31 December 2020 from PubMed, Cochrane, and Google Scholar, was conducted. Of the 90 studies selected for final analysis, 43 studies dealt with planning. Results. The manual planning technique (100%) was the only technique used since the 1980s until the digital techniques appeared in 2006. Therefore, the partially digital technique was the most used until 2015. In contrast, during the last few years, the fully digital technique is much more used. The correlation of the evolution of the manual and digital techniques shows that the use of the manual technique is decreasing in favour of the digital technique. For example, panoramic and CT radiography, the only techniques used from the 1980s until 2005, are no longer used since 2016. The new radiography technique, Cone beam, which started to be used from the 2000s onwards, is the most used technique during these two decades and is almost the only radiography used since 2016. Conclusion. Imaging techniques for planning implant-supported prostheses have evolved over the last 40 years.
