RÉSUMÉ
Introduction. Conclusion.
ABSTRACT
Introduction. Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Hepatitis B (HBV) and C (HCV) viruses, as well as Treponema pallidum are susceptible to transmission through blood transfusion. In Senegal, the prevalence of HBsAg carriage is estimated at 15% of the general population, while the prevalence of HIV is 0.5% in the general population. The main objective of the work was to determine the seroprevalence of the following infectious markers among blood donors in Ziguinchor. Methodology.  We conducted a four-year retrospective and analytical study from 2016 to 2019. The data were entered and calculated using Epi info version 3.5.4 software. The statistical tests used were Chi-square. A value of p < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results. We collected 2613 donors with an average age of 30 years with extremes ranging from 18 to 58 years. Blood donors carrying HBAg were 274 (10.5%). 10 (0.38%) patients were HIV positive. We found anti-HCV antibody (Ac Anti-HCV) in 2 people (0.08%). Treponema pallidum infection was found in one patient (0.04%).Conclusion. The seroprevalence of infectious markers in blood donors remains high, especially for HBsAg and HIV. It is therefore essential to retain donors in order to improve transfusion safety.
