Abstract

Introduction. The development of malignant conjunctival tumors during childhood is very rare. Prolonged sun exposure is universally recognized as a predisposing factor. When it occurs at an early age, an HIV infection should be investigated. Observation. We report a rare case of squamous cell carcinoma with locoregional involvement in a 4-year-old child from Niger, who tested negative for HIV and showed no signs of Xeroderma Pigmentosum (XP). The child underwent partial excision. Conclusion. If detected in time, conjunctival squamous cell carcinoma can be completely cured through proper local treatment with radiotherapy. In some cases, palliative chemotherapy is the only option
