Abstract

ABSTRACT
The authors report the case of a 24-year-old female patient who received a titanium implant. After four years of follow-up, a slight greyish discoloration was visible in the marginal gingiva, indicating the presence of titanium under the mucosa. The authors also report the case of a 46-year-old patient who was rehabilitated with a zirconia implant. After 4 years of follow-up, no traces of greyish discoloration were visible and aesthetic integration was optimal. Conclusion. In both cases studied, the implants showed functional stability. The zirconia implant showed better aesthetic integration than the titanium implant, confirming the potential advantage of zirconia for implant abutments in terms of aesthetics.
