Abstract

ABSTRACT
Objectives. The aim of this study was to determine the hematological values in stationary period of homozygous sickle cell Congolese adults with acceptable medical monitoring. Population and Methods: This descriptive cross-sectional study consisted of two groups of sickle cell anemia adult patients, including 132 patients with good medical monitoring and 175 subjects with poor follow up. For each patient, complete blood count blood count by the machine: Pentra 120 was obtained and read by hematologists. Results: 307 patients were included in the study, 150 men (48.86%) and 157 women (51.14%), mean age 24 ± 7.78 years. Complete blood counts in case of acceptable clinical follow up showed the following mean values: hemoglobin level of 5,68g / dl, MCV: 79,83fl, MCH: leukocytes: 12.72 giga / l, neutrophils: 5,04giga / l. Complete blood counts of irregularly monitored subjects showed the following mean value: hemoglobin level of 5, 87 g / dl, MCV: 80,39fl, MCH: leukocytes: 13.94 giga / l, neutrophils 4.92 giga / l. Conclusion: The number of neutrophils polynuclears and MCV erythrocyte is significantly different between regularly monitored adult sickle cell patients and those who are poorly monitored.
