Abstract

RÉSUMÉ
Introduction. Conclusion.

ABSTRACT
Introduction. Social and economic impact of traumatic brain injury is one of the most frequent causes of death, morbidity and disability in young adults. The aim of this study was to describe the presentation and surgical management of traumatic brain injury (TBI). Patients and methods. It was a cross sectional descriptive and analytical retrospective study. It was carried out on data of patients admitted to the CHU SO from 1st of January 2015 to 31 of December 2017. Our study variables were epidemiology, clinical features, modalities of neurosurgical treatment and outcome. Results. A total of 315 cases of TBI were recorded. The average age was 29.37 ± 12.26 years. The sex ratio was 9.76. In of cases, the brain injury. Epidural hematoma was the most common brain injury that was operated (60%, n = 63), followed by skull depressed (fracture 21.9%; n = 23). Global mortality rate was 7.3%. Conclusion. There is an emerging imperative to develop a management of patients with TBI at Sylvanus.
