Incidental finding and management of a non-absorbable suture string of prior myomectomy: a case report

RÉSUMÉ
La présence de fil de suture non résorbable dans la cavité utérine constitue une trouvaille hystéroscopique exceptionnelle. Nous rapportons le cas d’une patiente de 48 ans venue consulter pour une infertilité primaire du couple au Centre Hospitalier de Recherche et d’Application en Chirurgie Endoscopique et Reproduction Humaine (CHRACERH). La patiente présentait un antécédent de myomectomie par laparotomie dans une formation sanitaire privée sept ans plus tôt. Elle a été opérée d’une coelioscopie couplée à une hystéroscopie opératoire indiqués pour un hydrosalpinx et une synéchie utérine. Les trouvailles opératoires outre la synéchie, ont mis en évidence un bout de fil de suture non résorbable d’environ 10 cm en rapport avec l’antécédent de myomectomie. Nous avons procédé à l’ablation du fil de suture par voie hystéroscopique. La procédure n’a comporté aucune complication.

ABSTRACT
The presence of intracavitary non-absorbable suture strings is an exceptional finding during hysteroscopy. We report the case of a 48 years old patient followed up at the Gynaecological Endoscopic Surgery and Human Reproduction Teaching (GESHRTH) for infertility. She had a past history of open myomectomy done seven years earlier in a private clinic. She had an indication of laparoscopy and hysteroscopy for an hydrosalpinx and a synechia. During the surgery, besides the synechia, we found a 10 cm non absorbable suture string embedded in the uterine cavity. We removed the suture string during the hysteroscopy. There was no complication.
