ABSTRACT

Bilateral distal phocomelia of the lower extremities is a rare malformation. It is characterized by a major hypoplasia of the bones of the isolated or associated with other malformations. We present the case of a girl K S, 7 years old, born in term of a non-consanguineous couple. Her mother, was a 38 years old, 9th pregnancy, with a spontaneous abortion history. All these children had the same father. There is no history of family malformations or toxic substance intake. Three antenatal ultrasonographies were realized during the pregnancy from which K S was derived. They didn’t show any abnormality, and K S had a normal psychomotor development. The diagnosis of phocomelia was established clinically and confirmed by standard radiography in post-natal.
